2. 실험실소개 :  We focus on the development of microfluidic platform that is applicable for synthesis of functional materials, and fundamental study in biology and biotechnology. We control fluidic phenomena such as surface and interfacial tension, wettability, capillarity, and laplace pressure for synthesis of soft functional materials such as complex emulsion, microcapsules, anisotropic particles, colloids, Janus particles and fibers. The synthesized materials are applicable for drug delivery, cosmetics, suspension array, cell cultures and cell encapsulation. Also, we’re interested in fundamental study in biology and biotechnology. Specifically, we develop microfluidic toolboxes applied for biochip, biosensor, glycan analysis for cancer detection, and study of bacterial behaviors; chemotaxis, thermotaxis and biofilm. Moreover, the microfluidic device is utilized for chemical industry due to the several advantages; relatively better safety, minimization of reactants, uniformity of products. Finally, we focus on understanding of self-assembly and colloidal assembly under microgravity by collaboration with NASA.
